Goodbye to Michael Parkinson
Written by mascoteer.com staffThe cheeky northern TV chat show presenter Michael Parkinson is hanging up his microphone after a long career interviewing just about everyone who matters in politics and showbiz. He seems to have been on TV for ever, I certainly can’t remember a time when he wasn’t laughing his head off at some half funny tale by Jimmy Tarbuck or some other TV veteran.
So now what for the drinking Yorkshireman? A celebrity appearance on Midsummer Murders perhaps? Parkinson, being so instantly recognisable, could cameo on any UK TV show at will. Having been fired by BBC some while back, he resurrected his celebrity career at ITV without problem. He is the UK chat show king, it was the BBC’s loss, not Michael Parkinson.
His last show was comprised of a montage of celebrities including David Beckham, who smiled his way tragically through England’s latest debacle in football. The Brits are just not good at sport, for us sport is a hobby to enjoy, it should not be taken to extreme lengths like foreigners do.
So bye bye Michael Parkinson, and good luck in your retirement. But don’t be surprised if you’re hoicked back on TV for the occasional chat show special. Why not?
