The Champions to appear on the big screen

1960’s iconic TV series the Champions, starring beautiful Alexandra Bastedo is to make its Hollywood film debut soon. Made during the era of other classics such as The Saint and animated series Thunderbirds, The Champions got their superhuman abilities following a plane crash in the mountains.
Doubtless recent TV phenomenom Heroes was a catalyst in getting movie finance for The Champions production. With a similar plotline of normal humans somehow embued with psychic abilities, Heroes, which personally I didn’t enjoy that much, was a great success both in the US and in Europe.
Shame that Alexandra Bastedo will not be in the film, but only actors in their 20’s should apply, I guess. The new Champions film will be directed by Guillermo del Toro, who has received several Oscar nominations in the past.
