Watch The Illusionist
Written by mascoteer.com staffA lovely film, The Illusionist, loosely based on the life of Eisenheim the magician. Carefully thought out with good photography. How nice not to see so many extreme closeups of actors faces including nostril hair, do most film producers and directors not realise that most people these days have quite large TVs and do not watch DVDs on 8 inch grainy black and white sets?
A nice twist at the end of The Illusionist which isn’t related to the short story on which this film is based gives a satisfying ending. The illusions are well choreographed and fascinating to see. A little artistic licence with special effects does not disturb the balance between ‘is it an illusion or does Eisenheim have special powers’. Recommended viewing.
